As you are working to obtain your DUA Certificate of Compliance through your Unemployment Services for Employers account, you may realize the legal name for your organization is not listed correctly, is outdated, or otherwise needs to be updated. The Workforce Training Fund team may also request an update to the legal business name on your Certificate of Compliance if it does not match the legal business name as indicated on your application and the Form W-9 submitted with your application. Please see below for directions provided by the Department of Unemployment Assistance to update your legal name on the Unemployment Services for Employers portal.

Step 1: Login to Your Account 1. Go to Unemployment Services for Employers. 2. Enter your credentials to log into your account. | ![]() |
Step 2: Navigate to Additional Services 1. Once logged in, locate and click on the Additional Services option | ![]() |
Step 3: Locate the "Business Information" section 1. Scroll to the Business Information section 2. Click on "Manage names and addresses" | ![]() |
Step 4a: Click on the hyperlinked legal name to start the request Step 4b: Click on "Request to change this name" | ![]() ![]() |
Step 5: 1. Review the list of required information to submit a name change 2. Click the next button | ![]() |
Step 6: 1. After clicking "Next" the screen will appear with the current legal name. 2. On the same screen, delete the name in the text box and enter the new legal name. Once the name has been updated, click "Next" | ![]() |
Step 7: Upload Supporting Documentation 1. You must attach Articles/Certificate of Amendment, Articles/Certificate of Conversion, Articles/Certificate of Merger, or other court document to complete this request. 2. Upload documentation by clicking "Add attachment" | ![]() |
Step 8a: Next, select a file type based on the supporting documentation that will be uploaded. Step 8b: Once a file type is selected, add your file and click “Ok” | ![]() ![]() |
Step 9a: Confirm that the file has been uploaded, then click "Next" Step 9b: Confirm submission of the request by clicking "Submit" | ![]() ![]() |
Step 10: Confirmation of Request Submission Once the request is submitted, it will be processed by DUA staff. Notification of the update will be communicated by email and reflected on the employer’s Unemployment Services for Employer’s account. Please note that the "Printable View" is not sufficient for the purpose of needing a Certificate of Compliance from the DUA. You will need to wait until the legal name request has been reviewed by the DUA team. | ![]() |
Step 11: View Processed Notifications 1. Once the name change request is processed, an email will be sent to the authorized users on the account notifying them whether the request was approved or denied. •If the request was denied, the reason is typically due to lack of supporting documentation. •A copy of the message will also appear in on the Unemployment Services for Employers portal •The update can also be verified by reviewing the name upon logging in. In the screenshots below, the business name has been updated from Joe’s Lobster Shack to Joe’s Lobster & Fish Co. 2.
