Eligible businesses can cumulatively receive up to $15,000 in grants funds per calendar year, and the $15,000 resets at the start of the calendar year (January 1st). You do not have to request the full $15,000 in a year; it is simply the limit. You can also submit multiple applications throughout the year as training needs emerge using our rolling application process.
To determine the calendar year your courses fall under, you will want to locate the paragraph right under the boxes that say “Grant Recipient” and “Funding Agency”. The paragraph will start with “In Witness Where of:…”, see example below.
The year the approved start date is in is the year the funds will be allocated from. In the example agreement above, this agreement has a start date of October 4th, 2024, which means the $5,000 has been pulled from calendar year 2024 funds for this business. Their $15,000 would reset for any agreements with an approved start date of January 2025 or later.
It is okay if some of your courses on an agreement are approved under one calendar year but don't happen until the next one (there will be overlap between years, and that is okay!). We track approved funding amounts for each business, so if you are unsure of how much your business has left to apply for in a given calendar year, email us at express@commcorp.org.
Here is an example of how we track funds across two calendar years:
Grant # | Grant Start Date | Grant End Date | Amount Approved | Amount Left in CY |
1 | 8/10/2024 | 8/9/2025* | $6,000 | $9,000 (2024) |
2 | 11/5/2024 | 11/4/2025* | $7,000 | $2,000 (2024) |
3 | 1/5/2025 | 1/4/2026* | $5,000 | $10,000 (2025) |
Total | $18,000 |
|
*Grant End Dates are automatically selected as one year from the start date
Grantee A (grant details above) has three grants open with the Express Program, which cumulatively add up to $18,000. However, Grant #1 and #2 started in 2024, so the first $13,000 was awarded under CY2024, and Grant #3 was awarded under CY2025. This grantee may have more than $15,000 open at one time, as long as courses are taken within the specific grant window for the agreement they are on, and courses are submitted for reimbursement prior to their grant end date. Additionally, this grantee still had $2,000 left in CY2024. That amount does not rollover to the next CY, and simply resets to the max subsidy limit per CY of $15,000.
