My employee wants to take a course approved under the Express Program. Who pays up front for the course, the business or the employee taking the training?

The Express Program provides employers fast, simple access to grant-funded training, helping businesses in Massachusetts respond to emerging needs.

Because employers are the grant recipients, only employers can seek reimbursement once training has been completed and paid for in full.

If your company's policy is to have employees pay for their own training up front, the training would not be eligible for reimbursement through the Express Program.

You may consider adjusting your policies if you wish to have the direct cost of on-the-job, upskilling training reimbursed through the Express Program.
