What happens after I submit my application?

Modified on Tue, Dec 24 at 8:38 AM

After you have submitted your application, our team immediately gets to work. Your application will go through 3 stages, and take up to 21 days to for a grant decision to be issued from the date it's submitted. You will receive an automatic email to confirm your application was successfully submitted. General and main correspondence will be sent to the email address of the "Primary Contact" that you indicate in your application; learn more about the four different contacts the application asks for and what the contacts mean.

See below for the review stages, and approximate timeline.

AROUND DAYS 1-7: Compliance Checks

In the first week after your application submission, our team reviews your Certificate of Good Standing for validity and accuracy, and compares it to your W-9 and, if necessary, with public filings made on the Secretary of the Commonwealth's website. We also send your details to the Department of Unemployment Assistance to ensure your business is compliant with it's tax obligations.

We'll reach out via email to resolve any compliance issues we find, or advise if your application must be closed, and provide information on next steps.

AROUND DAYS 7-14: Course Reviews

In the second week, our team takes a look at your selected courses to ensure all amounts entered are accurate, align with our subsidy limits, and follow all other guidelines

AROUND DAYS 14-21: Final application review & Contracting

In the third and final week, our team finalizes checks of your application and drafts your Express Service Agreement, the contract which outlines your approved amounts, courses, contract durations, and all other legally binding guidelines. We will send this document to the individual you designate on your application as the Authorized Signatory via DocuSign. To execute your agreement and maintain eligibility for reimbursement, you must sign and return this contract prior to starting your training. Please also note that the date you sign your agreement may not be the same date it goes into effect - check your agreement for your Grant Start Date - all training must begin on or after this date to be eligible for reimbursement.

Once your agreement has been signed, our finance team will countersign and you will receive a copy for your records. This copy will also include details regarding How and when do I submit my completed course for reimbursement?

IMPORTANT: If you have not received an email from the Express Program or DocuSign by 4 days prior to the start of training, check your spam inbox and search for express@commcorp.org, and if no results are found, email us directly and request a status update.

GRANT DECISIONS

APPROVED
REJECTED

If your application is approved, we will issue a contract (formally known as a “Service Agreement”) and will email the document to the Authorized Signatory indicated on your application. The email will be sent via DocuSign and will contain:

  1. Your agreement,
  2. A copy of your application,
  3. A reimbursement request form, and an optional Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) form.

To fully execute your Express Grant, you will have to review and sign the service agreement
prior to the start of training.

Applicants that are found to be noncompliant as any part of our compliance checks, will be notified within 7 business days.

The notification will come in the form of a rejection email and will outline the issue(s) and solutions. Once the issue(s) have been rectified, you will have to submit a new application which will reset your review window to 21 days.

FINAL NOTE:

We'll reach out to let you know if there are any corrections that need to be made, and set a timeframe for your response. Please remember that our mission is to deliver fast, simple access to grant-funded training to help business in Massachusetts respond to emerging needs - helping you go from application to award in 21 days. Because of this quick turnaround, we must enforce small windows for correction of any issues in applications, so be sure to add express@commcorp.org and these DocuSign emails/domains to your company's SafeSenders lists, and watch out for communications while you application is in the processing stages!
